Extraordinary Find

Wow! An extra ordinary find by Archaeologist, Laurie McLean, and his assistant, Don Pelley.

While digging for more history of the land in Central Newfoundland a couple of weeks ago, Laurie and Don found a slate arrow in excellent condition.

The pictured artifact is a Groswater/Palaeo Inuit biface. We have two radiocarbon dates of 2200 years ago from the site so this item is probably around this age. There’s lots left to find and learn about our shared heritage so I hope for more opportunities next summer-fall.  ~Laurie McLean

Watch for more information to be revealed when the report of this year’s Fall Dig is posted.

Thank you to the Provincial Archaeological Office for their support.

Special thanks to our dedicated team of Laurie and Don.
