Documentary – Who Will Sing For Me?

Congratulations to Roger Bill and the documentary, Who Will Sing For Me?

Selected for two film festivals and in competition for four others

Roger has advised the Beothuk Institute that it was the only Newfoundland and Labrador feature or documentary to be selected for the 2022 FIN Atlantic International Film Festival. He said

“The documentary has also been selected by the Arkhaios Film Festival in the U.S. It is a festival for films about cultural heritage, ethnography, and archaeology. They selected 24 films this year. Only two were from North America and Who Will Sing For Me? was one of them.”

Who Will Sing For Me? is a story of the end of the Beothuk Culture in Newfoundland and the journey of the artist Gerald Squires and his vision and the creation of the statue “The Spirit of the Beothuk”. The statue is located at the Beothuk Interpretation Centre at Boyd’s Cove, NL

This amazing film will bring tears to your eyes.

We were so fortunate to have seen the film in its early stage at our AGM in May.

The Beothuk Institute is very excited with this recognition of the film. The Beothuk Institute raised the money to create the statue “The Spirit of the Beothuk” and we were a supporter of the production of the film.

Roger Bill reported that the documentary has been entered:

“in competition for four other festivals and we should know if we were successful by this time next month.”

We look forward to hearing the results!
